The first regular session of the third term of the Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House) is set to begin today (March 18), during which the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected, according to reports.
On the first day of the session, the agenda includes the nomination and approval of the presiding chairperson, the assumption of duties by the chairperson, the taking of the oath and signing of the oath record, and the delivery of an opening address by the chairperson.

Afterward, the presiding chairperson will formally hand over responsibilities to the newly elected Speaker, who will deliver an address.
