Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi emphasized that parliament must continuously update, amend, and enact laws to ensure citizens live safely under legal protection.
Speaking at an inter-parliamentary coordination meeting with Yangon Region lawmakers on October 3, U Khin Yi highlighted the need to strengthen the legislative branch through closer cooperation between Union and regional parliaments. He noted that a 5-year strategic development plan is underway to enhance parliamentary capacity and would be shared with regional assemblies.
He urged lawmakers to closely reflect the needs of their constituents, utilize media platforms to communicate parliamentary work, and focus on practical local issues—such as the rule of law, transportation, and drainage in economic hubs like Yangon. Yangon Region Parliament Speaker U Htay Aung also briefed the meeting on regional legislative initiatives.
