A meeting between representatives of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) serving in the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Amyotha Hluttaw was held on March 9 at the party headquarters’ conference hall. The event was attended by party chairman U Khin Yi, senior party leaders, and members of both houses of parliament.

The ceremony opened with a salute to the national flag and the singing of the national anthem. In his opening remarks, Chairman U Khin Yi said he was very pleased to meet the Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw representatives who had been elected with the support of the public. He added that the party headquarters warmly welcomed them and expressed pride in their achievements.

He urged the representatives to work with full dedication for the benefit of their constituencies, the country as a whole, and all ethnic groups. He also encouraged them to strive toward realizing the party’s goal of building a stronger and more developed Myanmar. In addition, he called on them to fulfill their national and public responsibilities and contribute to making history when the party achieves electoral victory.

Afterward, General Secretary U Thaung Aye and Central Executive Committee member U Maung Myint discussed parliamentary roles and matters related to questions and proposals in parliament. Joint General Secretary U Tin Aung Chit also explained guidelines and responsibilities that parliamentary representatives should follow.

During the general discussion session, U Maung Maung Ohn, the Pyithu Hluttaw representative from Tatkon Township, and U Hla Swe, the party chairman for the Union Territory and People’s Hluttaw representative from Pobbathiri Township, took part in the discussion. The meeting concluded with closing remarks by General Secretary U Thaung Aye.

The meeting was attended by USDP Chairman U Khin Yi, Vice Chairmen U Myat Hein and U Myo Zaw Thein, General Secretary U Thaung Aye, Joint General Secretary U Tin Aung Chit, members of the Central Executive Committee, elected representatives of both houses of parliament, and other officials, with a total of about 350 participants.
