Voter Turnout Reaches 39.36% in Mon State During Phase Two of 2025 General Election

According to the State Sub-Commission of the Election Commission, in the second phase of the multiparty democratic general election, nearly 600,000 eligible voters were registered across five townships in Mon State, of whom 39.36 percent cast their ballots.

The second phase of the multiparty democratic general election was held on January 11, during which elections took place in Mudon, Ye, Thanbyuzayat, Paung, and Bilin townships in Mon State.

In Mudon Township, where there were 168,784 eligible voters, 57,590 people voted, representing a turnout of 34.12 percent. In Ye Township, with 47,637 eligible voters, 20,716 voters cast ballots, resulting in a turnout of 43.49 percent. In Thanbyuzayat Township, out of 107,596 eligible voters, 45,345 people voted, accounting for 42.14 percent.

Similarly, in Paung Township, which had 173,038 eligible voters, 71,781 voters cast ballots, representing a turnout of 41.48 percent. In Bilin Township, out of 96,036 eligible voters, 38,007 people voted, with a turnout of 39.58 percent. Overall, in the second phase of the multiparty democratic general election in Mon State, a total of 233,439 voters out of 593,091 eligible voters cast their ballots, resulting in an overall turnout of 39.36 percent.

According to the State Sub-Commission of the Election Commission, in the second phase of the 2025 multiparty democratic general election held on January 11, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) won seats in the Bilin Township Pyithu Hluttaw, the State Hluttaw, the Amyotha Hluttaw constituencies of (Kyaikto–Bilin Township), and the Amyotha Hluttaw constituencies of (Thaton–Paung Township) within Mon State. Meanwhile, the Mon Unity Party (MUP) won all constituencies in Ye, Thanbyuzayat, and Mudon townships, as well as the Pyithu Hluttaw and State Hluttaw constituencies in Paung Township.
