Pyawbwe Township parliamentary candidate U Thaung Aye said that Parliament needs principled and responsible people who genuinely want to serve their communities. Anyone entering politics, he said, must have true political spirit, a strong desire to work for the country, and a charitable mindset.
He made these remarks on the afternoon of November 17 during a meeting with voters in Pyithaya Ward, Pyawbwe Township, where he was campaigning as the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House) candidate for the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).
“The important thing is to send good, genuine people to Parliament—people who really want to work for their communities. Some people enter politics only for personal gain or to secure certain positions. They don’t think about the region, the people, or their families. If someone enters politics with ego and self-interest, nothing good will come of it. And when such people fail to represent the people’s voices in Parliament, our vote becomes meaningless,” U Thaung Aye said.
He added that since 2020, the USDP headquarters has been regularly reviewing national issues—holding discussions twice a week and assigning members to read books and present lessons learned.
Speaking to voters, U Thaung Aye also said, “When you visit offices now, it takes forever—go here, go there, wait at this table or that table. We plan to remove those old systems. We will work quickly and efficiently to deliver the services people actually need, replacing outdated red-tape practices.”
Regarding the national situation, he said the military has restored stability and committed to holding elections and transferring responsibilities to the government formed by the election results.
Therefore, he said, the upcoming election belongs to the people. Elected representatives must speak up in Parliament about the people’s wishes, difficulties, and concerns, and communicate them to the relevant government bodies.
He added that the government has already prepared the necessary arrangements for the election, and voters must check whether their names are on the voter list and go to the polling station on the designated day to cast their ballots.
