According to the Union Election Commission (UEC), the second phase of Myanmar’s multi-party democratic general election will be held on January 11, 2026, and will include 100 townships across the country.
Earlier, on August 20, 2025, the UEC issued Notification No. 56/2025, designating 102 townships to take part in the first phase of the election, which is scheduled for December 28, 2025.
The UEC announced on October 28 that the second phase of the general election will take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, involving 100 townships from various states and regions.
In Kachin State, the participating townships are Machanbaw, Mohnyin, and Waingmaw. In Kayah State, they are Demoso and Hpruso, while Kayin State will include Hpapun and Hlaingbwe.
In Sagaing Region, the election will be held in Kalewa, Mingin, Wuntho, Kyunhla, Myaung, Chaung-U, Sagaing, Budalin, Ayadaw, Paungbyin, Mawlaik, and Ye-U. In Taninthayi Region, the townships are Yebyu, Kyunsu, and Taninthayi.
In Bago Region, the election will take place in Daik-U, Shwegyin, Thanatpin, Yedashe, Zeegone, Paungde, Kawa, Thonze, Paukkhaung, Pantanaw, Moenyo, and Minhla. In Magway Region, the participating townships are Gangaw, Seikphyu, Natmauk, Myothit, Ngaphe, Salin, Sidoktaya, Kanma, Minbu, Minhla, and Sinbaungwe.
In Mandalay Region, voting will be held in Singu, Kyaukpadaung, Tada-U, Pyigyidagun, Maha Aungmyay, Wundwin, Thazi, Amarapura, and Madaya. In Mon State, the election will cover Bilin, Mudon, Thanbyuzayat, Ye, and Paung.
In Yangon Region, the townships are Bahan, Pabedan, Latha, Cocokyun, Kamayut, Dagon Myothit (North), Dala, Pazundaung, Hlaing, Shwepyithar, Thanlyin, Hlegu, South Okkalapa, Coco Island, Kyimyindaing, and Insein.
In Shan State, the participating townships include Ywangan, Hsipaw, Kalaw, Mongkhat, Mongpyin, Mongphat, Yatsauk, Tangyan, Mongyai, Kunhein, Mongton, Mongyawng, Mongyan, Mongpan, Mongmaw, Mongkai, and Lecha.
In Ayeyawady Region, the election will take place in Kyaunggon, Kangyidaunt, Thabaung, Kyaiklatt, Ayeyawady, Pyapon, Bogale, Pantanaw, Wakema, and Einme.
These townships will all take part in the second phase of Myanmar’s multi-party democratic general election, which is set to be held in January 2026.
