A senior oncology specialist from the Russian Federation visited Yangon General Hospital and discussed more suitable and effective treatments for patients, according to the Ministry of Health.
On the afternoon of October 15, Professor Dr. Moiseyenko, a cancer specialist from the Napalkov Cancer Centre in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, and his team visited Yangon General Hospital to examine four cancer patients from the Department of Orthopedics, Department of General Surgery, and Department of Hematology, and to discuss with the Professor of Yangon General Hospital the most appropriate treatment options for the patients.
Afterwards, they looked at the health check-ups of patients suffering from leukemia in the Department of Hematology and discussed the necessary treatments together.
Then, they visited the Bone Marrow Transplant Center and discussed the treatment methods for leukemia with patients who have successfully undergone bone marrow transplantation and are in good health and patients who are scheduled for bone marrow transplantation.
Next, in the conference hall, Professor Dr. Moiseyenko gave a lecture on “Cancer and Age: How Aging Mechanisms Relate to Oncological Diseases” and the Rectors of the University of Medicine 1, Yangon and Rectors of the Defence Services Medical Academy, Medical Superintendent, Professors and Deans (Oncology), Professors and Deans (Radiation), Professors and Deans (Practical Medicine) and the participants shared their experiences.
The seminar was attended by 120 people including Professors and Deans, Professors from the Yangon General Hospital, Mingalardon 1000-bed Defence Services General Hospital, 500-bed Defence Services Specialist Hospital and the New General Hospital, and seniors and juniors specialists and post-graduate students, where they had an open and frank discussion on cancer medicine between the two countries and exchanged souvenirs.
