The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued a statement stating that the well-marked low pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal continues to persist and that isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi, Kayin and Mon.
The well-marked low pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and its associated west-central Bay of Bengal continues to persist, with some clouds developing over the northern Bay of Bengal and moderate to heavy clouds over the Andaman Sea and the rest of the Bay of Bengal.
As a result, rain and thundershowers will be isolated over Mandalay, Magway, lower Sagaing regions and Chin State, scattered in upper Sagaing Region, Rakhine and eastern Shan states, fairly widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Kachin, Kayah and northern Shan states and widespread in the remaining regions and states. There is a high probability of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi regions, Kayin and Mon states.
Cloud formations are developing in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, upper Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Tanintharyi regions, Kayah, Kayin and southern and eastern Shan states. Along with the movement of these cloud formations, there is a possibility of strong winds, thunder, lightning, lightning and hail along with rainfall.
The seas of Myanmar will be moderate and the wave height along the Myanmar coast and offshore will be about 6 to 8 feet. Rain is expected to continue in Tanintharyi Region, Kayin and Mon states over the next two days.
During the past 24 hours, there was partly cloudy weather in Chin State, and rain and thundershowers were isolated in Mandalay and lower Sagaing regions, scattered in Magway, upper Sagaing regions, Kayah and Shan states, fairly widespread in Kachin and Rakhine states, widespread in the remaining regions and states, and isolated heavy falls in Ayeyawady Region and Mon State.
Daytime temperatures were 2° C below the average temperature of May in Yangon, lower Sagaing regions, Rakhine and southern and eastern Shan states, 3 to 4° C below the average temperature of May in Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyawady regions and Kayah State, and 5 to 6° C below the average temperature of May in Nay Pyi Taw and Magway Region, while the average temperature of May in the remaining regions and states was only about normal.
The exceptional daytime temperatures recorded on May 14 were 39.5° C in Monywa, 38.5° C in Nyaunglebin, 38.0° C in Myingmu and Kawkareik, 36.5° C in Mandalay, 36.2° C in Tada-U (Aeronautical Meteorology), 36.0° C in Pakokku and Ye-U, and 35.8° C in Gangaw and Sagaing.
