The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced that elections will not be held in 56 constituencies of the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House), 9 constituencies of the Amyotha Hluttaw (Upper House) under the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, and 56 constituencies of the State and Region Hluttaws under the FPTP system in the upcoming general election.

The UEC said that, under Section 10 (8) of the Election Law, elections cannot take place in these areas due to the lack of conditions for holding free and fair elections. The announcement was made on September 14.

A detailed list of constituencies where elections will not be held is available on the UEC’s official website (uec.gov.mm).
