Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects displays at the Bogyoke Aung San Museum (Yangon) and the Ministers’ Office (Secretariat)

Yangon- Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, visited key historic landmarks in Yangon on July 18 morning to inspect preservation efforts. He was accompanied by the SAC Joint Secretary, members of the Council, Union Ministers, and the Chief Minister of Yangon Region.

At the Bogyoke Aung San Museum in Bahan Township, the Senior General toured the premises, viewing items linked to the life and legacy of General Aung San. Exhibits included the General’s vehicle, childhood to leadership photographs, family memorabilia, personal belongings, and books. He emphasized the importance of preserving these items, particularly the vehicle, with technical expertise to ensure their longevity. He also called for maintaining the museum building in line with original documentation and enhancing photo displays using modern technology. Additionally, he urged officials to beautify the surrounding landscape and roads leading to the museum.

The Bogyoke Aung San Museum, once the residence of General Aung San and his family from May 1945 until his assassination in July 1947, is open to the public daily from 9:30 am. to 4:30 pm., except on Mondays and public holidays, including Martyrs’ Day on 19 July.

Later, at the historic Ministers’ Office (The Secretariat) in Botahtaung Township, the Senior General inspected historical exhibits, including the Hluttaw hall and the room where General Aung San and other martyrs were assassinated. He stressed the need for improved clarity of displayed photographs and documents using modern technology, accurate and clear labeling, and consistency in presentation.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining the building’s original structure, advising that any restoration work be carried out systematically by experts to preserve its architectural and historical integrity.
