According to reports from Thailand, 40 undocumented Myanmar nationals were arrested in Thong Pha Phum Township, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand.

On the morning of June 7, Thai authorities searched a sealed truck in Thong Pha Phum Township, Kanchanaburi Province, and found 40 undocumented Myanmar nationals in the vehicle.

The driver of the truck, a 29-year-old Thai man from Sankhla Buri, Kanchanaburi Province, was interrogated by Thai authorities and was found to be carrying undocumented Myanmar nationals who had entered Thailand illegally through the Phayathonezu area on the Thai-Myanmar border and were hiding in the mountains, and those who will accept them were waiting in other townships, Thai news reports said.

According to Thai news reports, the Thai driver admitted that this was the second time he had transported the undocumented Myanmar nationals and that he had been arrested by Thai authorities before receiving payment from them.

The Thai driver and the 40 undocumented Myanmar nationals will be prosecuted under Thailand’s existing laws, according to sources.
