The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) announced that day temperatures rose to 40.5°C in Chauk and 40.4°C in Myinmu on May 5.
According to the statement, within the last 24 hours, rains or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Tanintharyi Region, scattered in upper Sagaing Region and isolated in Mandalay, lower Sagaing regions, Kachin and Mon states, and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.
Day temperatures were 2°C above May average temperature in Kachin State and 2°C below May average temperature in Nay Pyi Taw, 3°C below May average temperatures in Mandalay, Magway, lower Sagaing regions and about May average temperatures in the remaining regions and states.
The significant day temperatures were 40.5°C in Chauk, 40.4°C in Myinmu 40.0°C each in Nyaunglaybin and Pyay, 38.8°C in Chauk, 39.1°C in Magway, 39.0°C each in Nay Pyi Taw (Zeyathiri), Myinchan and Shwebo, 38.5°C in TadaU (aviation weather) and 38.4°C in Myawady on May 5. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 0.75 inch in Khamti, 0.16 inch in Homalin, 0.12 inch each in Myeik and Kawthoung, and 0.08 inch in Thaton and Paung.
