The State Administration Council announced that in the six regions and states severely affected by the March 28 Mandalay earthquake in Myanmar, the death toll had risen to 3,785, with 5,105 injured and 92 missing as of May 4.
The Myanmar Fire Service Department and domestic and international rescue teams have been conducting timely search and rescue operations in the affected areas. They have rescued 653 survivors and recovered 789 bodies from collapsed buildings as of May 4.
Domestic donors and well-wishers have been providing financial and material assistance to the earthquake victims. Similarly, foreign countries, organizations, and individual donors have also been contributing relief funds and supplies.
For instance, between 5:00 PM on May 3 and 5:00 PM on May 4, a shipment of ready-to-eat meals, rice boxes, and tarpaulins—weighing a total of 3.518 metric tons—arrived at Yangon International Airport. These supplies were donated by Malaysia-based organizations through the Myanmar Embassy in Malaysia and are being swiftly distributed to the affected communities.
