A wildfire broke out in the western part of Zwe Kabin Mountain in Hpa-An Township, Kayin State, last night, according to local reports.
The fire spread rapidly along the mountain’s western slope due to extreme heat and dry conditions. In response, the Hpa-An Township Fire Services Department, led by Chief Min Naing Tun, deployed two fire trucks and three water tankers to the scene.
Additionally, village administrators U Phaw Ae Chan from Yetha Village and U Saw Nyo Sein from Tawpon Village, along with local villagers, worked together to contain and extinguish the fire.
According to one of the villagers involved in the firefighting efforts, Zwe Kabin Mountain experiences wildfires annually due to hot and dry weather, but this year’s fire was more severe than usual.
Zwe Kabin Mountain, a well-known landmark in Kayin State, Myanmar, stands at 2,372 feet above sea level. It is located approximately seven miles south of Hpa-An Township, near Kha Lauk Noh Village.
