Car crashes into the frame of Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon), sparks fire

A car caught fire on the Ayeyawady Bridge (Yadanabon) in Sagaing on the night of February 4, sources said.

The incident occurred when a black Toyota Kluger vehicle driving from Mohnyin to Mandalay suddenly encountered a motorcycle on the road near the bridge. It skidded when it braked, causing the vehicle to spin and hit the bridge frame. The collision caused the engine compartment, windshield, and bonnet to catch fire, according to the records of Sagaing District Fire Services Department.

A fire truck from the Sagaing District/Township Fire Services Department, a fire truck from the Township Fire Services Department, a water bowser from the Sein Kone Auxiliary Fire Services Department, a water bowser from the Htone Bo Auxiliary Fire Station, and a fire truck from the Shwe Kyet Yat Auxiliary Fire Station were dispatched to the scene of the fire, which was extinguished at around 7 pm.

A case has been opened against the driver, Aung Phyo Min, a goldsmith, in connection with the incident.
