A landmine explosion on Myoma Market Road in Myoma Ward, ChaungU Township, claimed the life of one person and injured another on January 17.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., security forces responded to reports of casualties from a landmine blast and visited the township people's hospital in ChaungU, Sagaing Region. According to a press release from the Myanmar Police Force, the explosion was caused by a landmine planted by the PDF group.

The incident resulted in the death of U Phone Naing (53), a resident of Myothit Village, who was passing by the area. Ko Chit Ko (22), from Kyauk Si Kan Village, sustained injuries in the blast and is receiving medical treatment.

Authorities are conducting an investigation to identify and bring those responsible to justice in accordance with the law.
