SAC Chairman meets Belarus Foreign Minister to strengthen bilateral, defense ties

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus H.E. Mr. Maxim RYZHEN met in Nay Pyi Taw and discussed the promotion of bilateral cooperation, including defense issues.

In the afternoon of January 9, SAC Chairman, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus H.E. Mr. Maxim RYZHEN at the diplomatic reception hall of Office of the President of the State Administration Council in Nay Pyi Taw.

In that meeting, they discussed the conditions of the improvement of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, matters related to diplomatic relations and trade promotion, promoting cooperation in education sector, agriculture sector, livestock sector, the pharmaceutical sector, industrial sector, tourism sector and various other fields, issues of being able to send science and technology scholars, issues of promoting cooperation in defence, changes in Myanmar's political developments and preparations to hold a free and fair election.

The meeting was attended by the joint secretary of the council, General Ye Win Oo, Council member General Nyo Saw, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Ministers Dr Kan Zaw and U Tun Ohn, Deputy Ministers and officials, H.E. Mr. Hladzimir BARAVI, Ambassador of Belarus to Myanmar based in Hanoi, Deputy Minister for Industry, Deputy Minister for Health and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food and representatives attended the meeting.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus H.E. Mr. Maxim RYZHEN had a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw at 9 am on January 9.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and departmental officials, Ambassador of Belarus to Myanmar, Deputy Minister for Industry, Deputy Minister for Health and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food, the Deputy Rector of the University of Belarus and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus attended.

In the discussion, they discussed issues related to closer cooperation between the two foreign ministries of Myanmar and Belarus, the conditions of the state of achievements in the fields of cooperation between the two countries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2024, increasing interaction between the people of the two countries and cooperation that will bring mutual benefit between the two countries in economy, trade, agriculture and livestock, and education and defence sectors, the holding of the Myanmar-Belarus businessmen's dialogue and the close cooperation on the regional and international fronts.

Next, General Nyo Saw, a member of the State Administration Council, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw and Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn received the delegation led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus H.E. Mr. Maxim RYZHENKOV at 10:30 am on January 9 at the Office No.1 of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they discussed the matter of signing a letter aimed at joint action for development cooperation between Myanmar and Belarus, issues related to investment in the economic cooperation prospects and cooperation areas such as agriculture, livestock sectors, value-added consumer goods, food production sector, electricity, industry and vehicle manufacturing sectors and manufacturing of pharmaceutical and raw materials for medicines sectors and investment opportunities in Thilawa Special Economic Zone.

In the discussion, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus said that in the implementation of trade policies, they are being implemented trade and economic policies for mutual benefits. They discussed issues related to make investments in the production of milk and dairy products in Myanmar, fertilizer manufacturing activities from natural gas, the issues of being able to produce drugs for human as well as veterinary drugs in the production of drugs and pharmaceutical products, the issues of holding a meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Myanmar and Belarus and signing a science and technology cooperation agreement for the transfer of technologies for making investments in Myanmar.

At the end of the meeting, Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Dr Marlar Myo Nyunt and Director General of the Directorate for Asia, Africa and Latin America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Mr Dmitry Mironchik, signed an agreement regarding joint development cooperation.

To the meeting, officials from the office of the State Administration Council, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Ministry of Commerce attended the event.
