UNICEF Myanmar has announced a program to provide 42,000 kyats per month to children with severe or very severe disabilities aged two to 18. Eligible children who have been informed of their inclusion in the program will receive the funds every two months via Wave Money. Each family can receive support for up to three children.
The program aims to assist families in caring for children with disabilities by helping cover expenses for food, medical treatment, personal hygiene, assistive technology, rehabilitation, and education. It also seeks to supplement family income and encourage greater social participation.
Eligibility criteria include severe disability verification and living in the designated area. Families become ineligible if the child no longer meets the disability criteria, moves away from the area for an extended period, or if their registered information is unverifiable.
UNICEF has provided emergency hotlines—09-8809192 11, 09-8809192 12, and 09-8809192 13—for inquiries and further support.
