A total of 25 Myanmar nationals were apprehended for illegally crossing the border along the Moei River in Mae Sot District on the morning of January 8, according to sources.

Colonel Natthakorn Ruentip stated that the special forces commander and team discovered the suspicious Myanmar nationals during border inspections aimed at maintaining regional security and preventing illegal crossings along the Thai-Myanmar border within five districts.

While the Thai authorities were carrying out border patrols along the Moei River, they found and interrogated 16 men and nine women believed to be Myanmar nationals. They were arrested as they don’t have any official documents, according to reports from Thailand.

When the officials questioned the arrested Myanmar nationals, all of them testified that they wanted to go to the interior provinces and Bangkok to work.

The authorities will take legal action against Myanmar citizens who have illegally crossed into the Thai side along the waterway along the Moei River.

Similarly, ten Myanmar citizens were arrested on January 6 and 24 Myanmar nationals, who entered Thailand illegally through the Myawady-Mae Sot road on the Myanmar-Thailand border, were arrested along with the two Thai nationals, who brought them, on January 5 in Mae Sot. So a total of 59 Myanmar nationals who illegally entered Thailand from Myawady-Mae Sot road were arrested within three days.
