A representative from the Aungban Funeral Assistance Association reported that a six-month-old baby and the child's mother tragically drowned after being swept away by the stream falling from mountain in Aungban Town.
The incident occurred at around 4 PM on September 4 near Htee Thein Village, south of Aungban, at the stream falling from mountain.
"The mother and child, along with two others, were crossing the stream when the strong current swept them away. They were returning home from the fields. Unfortunately, the mother and her six-month-old baby were caught in the current. The baby was very young, only six months old," said the representative.
The Aungban Funeral Assistance Association, along with relevant authorities, assisted in the search and recovery effort following the tragic incident. The mother’s body was found approximately 150 feet from the scene, but the baby’s body remains missing.
“We found the mother’s body about 150 feet away, but we couldn’t locate the baby’s body. It seems like the baby might have been buried under sand,” a representative from the Aungban Funeral Assistance Association stated.
The mother’s body was transported to the Aungban General Hospital for autopsy by the Funeral Assistance Association.
