Authorities file a case against the deputy head of the GAD for Thanbyuzayat Township for allegedly providing information to an opposing organization

A case was opened on December 18 against the former Deputy Head of the General Administration Department (GAD) of Thanbyuzayat Township, who claimed to have given information to an opposing organization, according to people close to the security forces.

The person who has been prosecuted under the Counter-Terrorism Law is 40-year-old U Aung Ko, who works as the Deputy Head of the General Administration Department of Thanbyuzayat Township.

According to a person close to the security forces, a case has been opened under the Counter-Terrorism Law as it was discovered by the relevant officials that U Aung Ko Ko had sent information to the opposition groups.

He continued, "It is known that U Aung Ko Ko has been arrested and investigations are underway."

Regarding the incident, it has been reported that Thanbyuzayat Township police station has opened a case against U Aung Ko Ko under section 52 (a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.

According to a confession of a PDF who was arrested in Thanbyuzayat town of Mon State on November 30, at least 20 residents of Thanbyuzayat who claimed to be supporting the NUG/PDF were arrested and prosecuted. Among those arrested were construction and gold entrepreneurs, restaurant owners and other entrepreneurs are involved, according to Thanbyuzayat residents.
