Mine attack occurs at a railroad in Kyauktaga Township

A railroad section between Peinzaluk and Thahtaygone stations in Kyauktaga Township, Bago Region, was mined on the night of October 24, according to the Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC).

As a result of the explosion, both of the downstream train tracks were cut off. 

Regarding the above incident, the press release of the information team of the State Administration Council said the Mandalay-Yangon No. 6 downstream express train that left Mandalay on the night of October 24 and No.4 downstream express train temporarily stopped at Penwegone station in Kyauktaga Township and Kanyutkwin station respectively on the morning of October 25. Similarly, two freight trains running between Yarthagyi and Myitnge stations had to stop temporarily at Pyuntasar and Eainchaylayse stations. 

It was reported that the rails were damaged, the new tracks installed on the current downstream railway and the reconstructed downstream railway are cut by one and half feet each, and concrete sleepers were damaged as PDFs destroyed both upstream and downstream railways with mines.

Due to the restoration of the railway that was damaged as above, it was completed and the trains have been able to run normally again.

There had been 128 mine attacks on railway lines and station areas, 45 mine attacks on bridges and 12 arson attacks on railway stations and staff quarters in the entire railway sector since the month of February 2021.
