There were 2,264 cases of dengue fever in Mon State from January 1 to September 17 of this year, according to the Department of Public Health and Treatment for Mon State.

In addition, there were only 33 dengue fever cases during the last week. In addition, the rate of dengue fever cases in Mon State has also decreased significantly, from 150 to 200 patients per week in previous months, now there are only around 30 patients, according to Dr. Min Thu.

This year, one patient from Ye Township and two patients from Kyaikto Township were died due to dengue fever, according to the statements of the relevant department of health.

There were 3,422 cases of dengue in Mon State in 2001, which are the years with the highest incidence of dengue and 57 of them died. In 2013, there were 3,028 cases of the disease and 2 died. In 2015, a record number of 5,000 cases of dengue fever and 4 deaths reported. The dengue fever first reported in Myanmar in 1965. Since after 1970, it started to occur in Mawlamyine, Mon State, according to the records of the Department of Health.
