Myanmar appoints new police chief and re-organizes Ministry of Electricity and Energy

The State-run MRTV announced the appointment of Maj-Gen Zin Min Htet as new police chief to replace Lt-Gen Than Hlaing and re-organizing of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.

Lt-Gen Than Hlaing has been reassigned to his original military post, and Maj-Gen Zin Min Htet will also serve as Deputy Minister for Home Affairs as well as police chief.

In addition, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy was reorganized as the Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Energy, and Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo was allowed to retire.

U Thaung Han was jointly appointed as the Union Minister for Electric Power and the Union Minister for Energy.

According to the statement, the reassignment was made by the State Administration Council (SAC) in accordance with Article 419 of the Constitution.
