Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) leader and New Mon State Party vice chair Naing Aung Min has said the sentencing of President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is unacceptable.
The PPST formed with leaders of NCA-S EAO (Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement – Signatories, Ethnic Armed Organizations) held a meeting via video conferencing on December 6 and 7. The PPST leader made the comment in his concluding speech.
“The sentencing of the President and the State Counsellor is unacceptable,” Naing Aung Min said.
He said the acts of the State Administration Council could be far from seeking solutions to the current political problems.
As the PPST believes that dialogue is most suitable to address the political crisis, it will seek ways and means in collaboration with political forces and the international community, Aung Naing Min commented.
The fourth conference (Part 2) of NCA-S EAO was first planned in the third week of December, but it has been postponed to January 2022, he added.
He also condemned security forces’ crackdown on the peaceful protest in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon Region.
During the two-day PPST meeting, various sectors were discussed including political, peace, military, economic, health and education affairs. The meeting also focused on review of progress in realizing the seven political objectives of the team and adopted future work plans.
