U Zaw Htay, spokesperson for the President's Office said the State will purchase however much Remdesivir India can sell Myanmar.   

At the press conference on 10 October on Zoom, U Zaw Htay replied to a question by a journalist that the state will purchase the maximum amount available for purchase.

“Remdesivir is produced by quite a lot of companies. Just as India other countries too produce them. We are concerned about the quality. We will take however much India, whose guarantee we have, can sell us. There is no limitation of budget in this regard,” said the spokesperson.

U Zaw Htay continued to say that in treating the American President Plasma therapy as well as Remdesivir were used. In Myanmar research on plasma therapy was made since the first wave, and it was successful. It was conducted on patients of great risk, for instance, one is infected with covi d virus and is a diabetic. When this patient is severely ill  he  is given plasma therapy treatment. It was successful. That is why it is necessary to do more research on this plasma therapy. According to observations made Remdesivir results in recovery in five days. We are placing orders for however much is available, but the stock is limited. This is the time when all countries are purchasing this medicine, but we are buying whatever is available. The price is a little more than a dollar normally. 

When addressing the nation on 9 Oct. regarding the spread of COVID-19, President of the National Level Committee for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19, and State Counsellor, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, said that the same medicine that was supposed to have been used for the American President is being used for the people as much as possible.
