Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, vice-chair of the  COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment Coordinating Committee, said that of about 7000 patients taking treatment in COVID-19 treatment centres, between 5%and 10% of them are being treated under intensive care.

Between 6000 and 7000 are being monitored closely and about 5% to 10% have to be given oxygen in ICU and HDU. All out efforts are being made to treat these patients by using medicines of international standard so as to reduce the number of deaths.

Dr. Thar Htun Kyaw, Director General of the union minister's office, Ministry of Health and Sports, said there are over 6700 patients taking treatment in eight COCID-19 treatment centres, and preparations are underway to build four more centres to accommodate over 3600 patients.

Dr. Thar Htun Kyaw further said that concerning the requirement of medical personnel in the COVID-19 treatment centres, medical specialists , assistant doctors, nurses, and medical professionals from hospitals under the  ministry of health and sports, and from hospitals in states and regions, and from institutes of medicine, are given  tasks. In addition medical personnel from military hospitals, Myanmar Doctors' Association, Myanmar Medical Officers association, Myanmar Nurses and Gynecology Association, and medical staff from private hospitals, social welfare associations, and volunteers are given tasks to help in these treatment centres. Coordination is made daily with the Yangon Region Prime Minister and the regional government, and all necessary assistance is given. Efforts are being made to provide workforce and other things needed in COVID-19 treatment centres.

Till the morning of 8 Oct, lab tests have been conducted on 355271 persons and there 15581 under observation. Of those on whom lab tests have been conducted, 21433 are affected by virus, 510 have died, and 6084 have recovered, as disclosed by the ministry of health and sports.

Prof. Dr. Zaw Wai Soe further said that those living in groups and clusters have to be careful. If they fail to follow the disciplinary measures there is danger of the entire group to get infected. This is very important, and that is why we stress this matter. If anything occurs in the group the matter has to be reported, and the ministry of health and sports, health departments of the townships concerned can do the needful at the earliest. This has to be given priority. Only then will it be brought under control, and prevent any spread. At the moment things are under control. Accomodation issue is much better than before. That is why the public are requested to contact hospitals and clinics should they sense anything unusual. We are doing our best
