Yangon—According to the Social Security Law, Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population has given health benefits of Ks over 16 million to the quarantined factory workers who are entitled to social security benefits and pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
The Social Security Board has designated the quarantined period as sick leave.
As a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Sports has issued directives and statements.
The social security board is issuing 60 per cent of social security contributions to the pregnant workers who are entitled to the social security benefit, after designating the sick leave ranging from the minimum eight weeks to the maximum 26 weeks once.
According the figures till 28 May, there are 912 quarantined workers and 5,985 pregnant workers. Of them, the social security board has issued social security benefits of Ks 9.9 million to 212 workers and Ks over 6.4 million to 56 pregnant workers.
