Till November since 2014, the National Skill Standard Authority (NSSA) has issued national-level skill certificates to over 14,000 workers for 23 kinds of jobs, said Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population Thein Swe, at a ceremony to present national-level skill certificates  at the Construction Ministry’s Central Training School (Thuwunna) in Yangon, on December 7.

At the ceremony, the national-level skill certificates were issued to 1,281 skilled workers who underwent the skill tests from December 2018 to August, 2019, for 18 types of jobs in late April.

Union Minister Thein Swe said: “Till November, 2019 since the establishment of the National Skill Standard Authority (NSSA) in 2014, it assessed the skills of 14,121 workers—13,062 for level-1 and 1,059 for level-2. That number is relatively low compared with local labour force. The ministry plans to speed up its works as it has to do its works based on the budgets allotted.”

The NSSA has opened 91 skill assessment centers in Yangon Region and assessed 7,564 skilled workers for 18 types of jobs including garment, electricity, bricklaying, carpenter and air-con repairing.
