We Love Yangon, a community based philanthropic association, has dismissed Aung Zaw Oo also known as Ayaykyo from his position of executive member for violating the natural disaster management law by visiting The World Wide KTV during the Covid-19 restriction period.

The association chairperson said he was removed from the post because he breached the law enacted by the State.

“I knew it this morning. He failed to follow the law passed by the State. It’s the natural disaster management law. This is the part of law to take action against him. For us, we have to dismiss anyone belonging to our organization if they fail to follow the law. No one is above the law. We all have to do our things in the pandemic period. We have to respect the law. His duty as executive of the association has been ceased,” said Than Myint Aung, chairperson of We Love Yangon.

Acting on a tip-off, officials from the Yangon West District General Administration Department made a surprise visit to The World Wide KTV located in Sayar San Road, Bahan Township, which was operating despite the ban, at 9.45 pm on December 26.

Finding some plates of food, glasses and bottles of beer in Room No (8) and (9) on the ground floor, the authorities searched and discovered four men and four women hiding upstairs.

Consequently, nine people including the manager of the KTV lounge and Aung Zaw Oo were arrested and a case has been opened against them.

However, eight arrested customers including Aung Zaw Oo were later released on bail.
