A monk from Aung Dawmu Monastery and a civilian were wounded in a shooting incident in the town of Tamu, Sagaing Region, the information team of the State Administration Council reported on November 1.
Acting on information that unknown gunmen entered Market Ward Nos. 10 and 11 in Tamu at about 2.45pm on October 30, security forces rushed there for counter-terrorism and faced attacks from an unidentified armed group near Aung Dawmu Monastery in Market Ward No.10. As the security forces returned fire, the armed group retreated to the border between Myanmar India through the lane behind the monastery.
While retreating, the armed group fired heavy and small weapons leaving a 42-year-old monk from Aung Dawmu Monastery and Aung Thiha, aged 28, from Market Ward No.11 injured. Both were sent to Tamu People’s Hospital for medical treatment, the SAC information team reported.
The security forces are necessary measures to arrest and take effective action against the assailants.
