The funeral service of WHO staff Pyae Sone Win Maung was held in Pyae on April 23 at 10:30 am.

He died in the line of duty while transporting samples of COPVID-19 suspects from Rakhine State to Yangon on the evening of April 20. He was the driver of the WHO vehicle and shot at Minbya.

“His remains were sent to his native place Pyae where his parents and wife are living.  We came via Sittwe to Kyauk Phyu by boat and then spent the night in Taunggoo and next directly came to Pyae,” said Saw Win Maung, Rakhine State Department of Public Health. 

The funeral service was held in close family members attended by health staff from Pyae.
