Myanmar-born Chin fighter Joshua Van successfully defended his UFC flyweight championship by defeating Brazilian contender Alexandre Pantoja via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 331.

The 24-year-old champion secured victory after all three judges scored the five-round bout in his favour, with scorecards reading 49-46, 49-47 and 50-45.

The win marked Van’s second successful title defence and his second consecutive victory over Pantoja.

Their first encounter on December 6, 2025, ended when Pantoja suffered an arm injury and was forced to withdraw, prompting questions over the legitimacy of Van’s victory.

However, Van silenced those doubts with a commanding performance in the rematch, outclassing Pantoja with superior striking and proving himself a legitimate UFC flyweight champion.

Van had previously defended his title for the first time on May 9 this year, defeating Japan’s Tatsuro Taira by fifth-round TKO.

The victory extended his winning streak to eight consecutive UFC fights. He has now won 11 of his 12 UFC bouts, including both encounters with Pantoja, suffering just one defeat.
