Vice President U Nyo Saw holds talks with Guangzhou Mayor

Vice President U Nyo Saw, who is in Nanning, People’s Republic of China, arrived in Guangzhou together with Union Minister U Tun Ohn and members of the delegation in the afternoon of September 19 and received Mr. Sun Zhiyang, Mayor of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, and exchanged views and held discussions on bilateral relations, cooperation matters and the promotion of maritime trade.

On the morning of September 18, the Vice President, accompanied by members of the delegation, visited the Madao Hub of the Pinglu Canal in Qinzhou, which provides a direct sea-to-river connection for cargo ships. Local officials and officials from Qinzhou welcomed the Vice President and explained the completion of the Pinglu Canal project, its benefits and the types of vessels permitted to pass through the canal.

Afterwards, the Vice President visited an automated container terminal and berths in Qinzhou, where artificial intelligence technology is being used. Local authorities and port officials explained the berthing of domestic and international vessels, cargo handling operations using AI technology, technological innovations including digital technologies, and regional connectivity through advanced technologies.

On the evening of September 17, the Vice President, together with members of the delegation, received Mr. Wei Tao, Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the Liyuan International Conference Center. They discussed enhancing bilateral relations, promoting bilateral cooperation, accelerating bilateral trade cooperation, and advancing the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
