Terrorists using drones has become a challenge. So, to prevent such weapons, including drones, from falling into the hands of criminals and malicious groups worldwide, it is essential to enhance regional and bilateral cooperation, said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Lt-General Ni Lin Aung, who is also Chief of Myanmar Police Force.
The Deputy Minister made the remark during the Second Global Security Cooperation Conference (2023) (Lianyungang Forum) held at the Jinlin Haizhou Bayview Conference Centre in Lianyungang, the People’s Republic of China.
The Deputy Minister discussed the commitments made during the talks in the Global Security Initiative (GSI) included principles such as respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs values that have long been upheld in Myanmar’s foreign policy. He also expressed his support for and welcomed the Global Security Initiative (GSI), as it aligns with the five principles of peaceful coexistence.
He described Myanmar collaborates with international organizations to combat the dangers of narcotics. Precursor chemicals required for narcotics production are imported, not produced within Myanmar. Therefore, it is crucial for all countries to cooperate in their prevention.
Furthermore, new technologies like Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT are being employed in online scam centers. There is a pressing need for close cooperation and comprehensive information sharing among law enforcement organizations, non-governmental organizations dealing with online scams, financial intelligence agencies, and relevant private companies.
He also expressed, as per the Global Terrorism Index Report (2023) published by the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP), terrorist groups are increasingly employing drones, making their use a future challenge. This can be achieved through the strengthening of border control measures.
The opening ceremony of Second Global Security Cooperation Conference (2023) was held on September 20 and it was attended and made an opening speech by Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Mr.Wang Xiaohong.
The forum themed “One World, Common Security,” attracted more than 500 senior law enforcement officials, experts and scholars from over 50 countries, regions and international organizations.
