Tender winner of Yangon elevated expressway to announce in June

Authorities chose ten companies for the final stage of the Yangon elevated expressway project and tender winner will be announced in June, sources said.

The final stage of the tender selection process will be held in May and the agreement contract is being prepared to submit the respective ministries to ask for the recommendations.

The Yangon elevated expressway project will start in 2019 and it is expected to be finalized within three-year time. The cost of the project will be repaid from the charges collected from the cars using the elevated expressway.

The inner ringroad of the project will start from Strand Road and Bothahtaung Bayar Road and through Bogyoke Aung San Road, Lower Pazuntaung Road and Tantumar Road. It will go through North Oakkala Road before crossing to Mingalardon industrial zone, Khayaypin Road and Bayintnaung Road.

Officials from Myanmar and Japan held a fourth meeting to implement the Yangon Urban Mass Rapid Transit (YUMRT) project at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications on March 29.

The survey of the YUMRT project to run between Yangon train station and Mingalardon airport and another section of railroad between Hlaingthayar and Toekyaungkalay will be finished in September.

The YUMRT will implement at the end of 2019 and Japan is aiding the project. The final report will be released at the end of this year, said Deputy Minister Kyaw Myo for the Transportation and Communications.
