Whatever the nation led by any political system or any government, as our national policy, Tatmadaw has to maintain the three main national causes concerning all nationalities, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, chairman of the State Administration Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing made the remarks while addressing the graduation ceremony of the 8th Intake of Graduate Female Cadet Course at the parade ground of the Defence Services (Army) Officers Training School (Hmawby) in Yangon on December 22.

We always have to safeguard our three main national causes: non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of the national solidarity, perpetuation of national sovereignty as a national duty for the Union in which over 100 ethnic people live. National affairs mean safeguarding national interests, religion, traditional culture and customs. Whatever the nation led by any political system or any government, as our national policy, Tatmadaw has to maintain the three main national causes concerning all nationalities. He would do his best to work with the people to implement the military's national politics, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

In addition, the Tatmadaw strives to become a stable, peaceful and prosperous nation by uniting with the people and meeting the needs of the people and the country directly or indirectly. What has been done must be clearly seen in history. He called for the preservation of such noble traditions.

In addition, the three main functions of the Tatmadaw: national defense duty, training duty and public benefit duty have been defined. The most basic of them is national defense duty. In the case of national defense, it is usually internal and external threats to the country. In modern times, not only military means but measures need to be taken to prevent the dangers of political interference, economic sanctions, dissemination of false information and cultural intrusion, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

To be dutiful individually, military subjects enlightened by military training depots or academies need to apply, along with the motto “Study, Practise, Comply”, in a practical field precisely and effectively while serving national defence duty. Comrades were encouraged to study the most up-to-date military equipment and tactics juxtaposed with the modern world to enable them to use, to practice physical training to be much healthier and to comply with the fundamental procedures of military and front-line disciplines in the practical field, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

The Tatmadaw is a force for the state and the people and is one of the strongest institutions, that is always ready in case of emergency. Therefore, he said, good citizens should fulfill their national defense responsibilities.

Having duty consciousness among the country and people, loyalty and a variety of selfless performances with a spirit of goodwill by Tatmadaw have been witnessed in the past. Currently, Tatmadaw is also steering and monitoring to be straightforward on building the Union rooted in democracy and the federal system having peace and tranquility, and community development. Every effort partaken by Tatmadaw tend to be beneficial for our motherland and ethnic people, and Tatmadaw also performs the tasks with a spirit of goodwill to be able to stand rigidly as a country among the world, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
