Strong wind damaged over 300 houses in seven townships in Sagaing Region on April 8, according to Sa William Frank, Director of Natural Disasters Management Department for the region.

In Kani Township, a person was struck by lightning and sent to Kin station hospital. A cow was also hit by lightning and killed in Mingin Township.

“The damages are happened in places and strong wind damaged houses in Yinmabin, Kani, Mingin, Mawlaik, Kyunhla, Kanbalu and Dabayin townships,” he said.

The strong wind destroyed 47 houses in Yinmabin, 15 houses in Kani, a school in Mingin, 34 houses in Mawlaik, 43 houses in Kyunhla, 172 houses in Kanbalu and four houses in Dabayin.

Sagaing Region has 37 townships in total and about 600 houses were damaged due to the strong wind affected from February to April 3 in this year, he added.
