A total of 28 Shan ethnic public organizations issued a joint statement on November 29 in support of the ceasefire agreement between the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) and the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA).
In the statement it said when the politics, military and conflicts are intense that are happening, the protection of the Shan people through the unity of the two armed forces of Shan State is important.
The statement also stated that the entire Shan community is happy about the ceasefire agreement between the two Shan State armies, which originated from the Shan community.
"I'm glad that. We have been asking for this for two years. I just want to say that now is the time for Shan ethnic armies to protect Shan State and the Shan people," said a Shan youth in Namkham.
It said we believe that this ceasefire agreement is a good basis for the establishment of a unified and peaceful federal Shan State, as it paves the way for the protection of the Shan people. They are willing to continue the cooperation and unity building of the two Shan armies, which the entire Shan community longs for, through the current ceasefire agreement.
On November 29, the SSPP and RCSS announced the cessation of the fighting in accordance with the wishes of the Shan people and the Sangha, who have been waiting for years.
