With the supervision of Sagaing regional government, under the permission of the Union Government, different kinds of timbers that were illegally seized in Sagaing Region will be up for auction, said Than Soe, director of regional forest department.

Seized illegal timber of different kinds is being auctioned in every district in Sagaing Region. If auctioned regional logs are abundant, theft will decline. Timber users will be all right with the seized logs, said Thein Soe.

We are auctioning seized illegal timber of different kinds, with the supervision of Sagaing regional government, under the permission of the Union Government. We believe timber theft will reduce, said Than Soe.

The authorities seized 10,668.0605 tons of timber of different kinds in Sagaing Region during 2018. 1,106 people and related items were also seized.

The authorities seized 535.602 tons of timber and 455 logs as well as three people in the first week of January in 2019.
