At the Defence Services Academy cadet graduation ceremony, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), urged participation in facilitating the transfer of national responsibilities to the government formed through a properly conducted election.

The parade ceremony for the 66th intake of cadets was held on December 6 at the DSA parade ground in PyinOoLwin. In his speech, the SAC Chairman highlighted the council’s goal of holding free, fair, and multiparty democratic general elections. As part of the preparatory activities, a nationwide population and household census was conducted starting in early October, aiming to ensure the rights of eligible voters and the credibility of the electoral process. He stated that this initiative aligns with the five-point roadmap of the SAC and is crucial for organizing an election that adheres to proper procedures.

The census data will not only support national development plans but also contribute to the accuracy of voter lists for the upcoming elections. The Senior General urged all cadets to contribute to the process of transferring national responsibilities to a democratically elected government by fulfilling their respective roles.

Additionally, the Senior General called on the cadets, as future leaders of the nation, to effectively apply the military and academic knowledge they had gained during their training. He stressed the importance of perseverance, moral strength, and strategic thinking, urging the graduates to uphold the traditions and reputation of the DSA and to excel in their duties as professional soldiers.

During the event, the cadets performed slow and quick march drills to honor the Senior General. Awards were also presented to outstanding cadets by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

The ceremony was attended by the Senior General’s wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, high-ranking military officials and their spouses, union ministers, the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region and his wife, senior officers from foreign military attaché offices, the Commandant of the DSA, local military officials, as well as parents and relatives of the graduating cadets, along with invited guests.
