Police caught the culprit of the construction owner murder case in Nay Pyi Taw on October 30, according to Oattara Thiri Township police station.

“The defendant confessed that he and the deceased quarreled within her house. She told him that she will lodge a complaint against for trespassing into her home. She tried to ring the police and he stopped her. She ran inside and closed the door. He forced his way from the outside. The victim then ran to the bathroom and tried to bar herself inside. He heard her fell in the bathroom. He kicked open the bathroom, the door also hitting the victim. He then beat her head for about four times and then she collapsed. She appeared to faint but she got up. So he thrusted into her left chest with a knife that was kept in his pocket. The victim tried to resist by clawing at him. He stabbed her one more time, pushing it all the way to the back of the stomach. He checked whether she was dead or not. He looked around the room and saw a bottle of alcohol. He drunk some of it and thought he could set fire the body with the alcohol. He took paper, blankets and towel and covered them on her body. He also threw money, a laptop, phones, earphones and watches into a bag to use as fuel for the fire and then set fire to her body,” said Tin Htay, head of Oattara Thiri Township police station.

The police was reported about the death case in the evening of October 28. They said a female body was found inside the bathroom with most of the upper body sporting burns.

The police seized a Dell laptop, an IPhone, a Huawei handset, a Bluetooth watch, two earphones, a baggage, currency notes worth of Ks455,000 and a car.

The murderer was formerly employed as the driver of the deceased.

Tin Htay, head of the police station said, “He was intoxicated and felt that he was humiliated by her and that she treated him arrogantly constantly. He felt it was unfair that he didn’t have to travel to Mandalay but work here in Nay Pyi Taw instead. Since he had a bone to pick with her, he went and tried to rectify the problem with her. Things escalated and he went beyond the limit and killed her. And then he burnt her body.”

The deceased was cremated at Kwaygyi cemetery in Nay Pyi Taw on October 30.

The police lodged a complaint against him under Section 302 of the Penal Code and held a remand at Oattara Thiri Township Court.
