The People's Party (PP) officially opened its Mudon Township office on the morning of March 9.
According to U Aung Ko Win Than, a Mon State representative of the People's Party, the party's core objectives include ensuring equality for all citizens regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or socio-economic status; promoting democracy and human rights; advocating for equal rights for ethnic groups; and establishing a democratic federal union. He emphasized that the party values democracy, human rights, and equality, striving for an inclusive and fair political landscape.
Speaking at the event, he stated, "I understand politics as the management of national affairs. It is also a form of public service. In Mon State, we frequently encounter issues related to farmland, national registration, and criminal cases. Our party is actively assisting in these matters in accordance with the law."
He further expressed that true political progress will come when more politicians prioritize public welfare and dedicate their efforts to serving the people selflessly.
The People's Party has already established offices in Kyikmaraw and Mudon townships and is planning to open additional offices in Mawlamyine and Chaungzon townships soon.
The party was officially registered under Section 2, Article 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law and received approval from the Union Election Commission on December 29, 2023, under Article 9. It is a nationwide party set to compete in upcoming elections.
