Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry Maung Maung Win has submitted a proposal calling for exemption from special commodity tax and commercial tax on import of six Toyota Land Cruisers (bullet proof) to be used for State leaders and State-level foreign guests.

During the meeting of the Union Parliament held in Nay Pyi Taw on December 5, the deputy minister said a budget of K1,249.998 million had been approved in the capital spending of the Central Machinery Department of the ministry for 2019-2020 fiscal year.

The cars will be imported with CIF (Yangon).

"The purchase of those cars will ensure secure local trips for State leaders and transport of State-level foreign guests. Six Toyota Land Cruisers (bullet proof) with 2019 and 2020 models will be purchased," the deputy minister said.

CIF (Yangon) value for the six cars is US$0.73592 million plus US$0.36796 million in special commodity tax and US$0.05519 million in commercial tax.

The deputy minister said the exemption from those taxes had been decided by the Union government after holding meetings, and the proposal was submitted to the Union Parliament for approval.

The proposal is due to be discussed by members of parliament on December 11, the speaker of the Union Parliament announced.
