YANGON----Over 100 school teachers that served as polling station chiefs and deputy chiefs at the polling stations in all States/ Regions on Nov.8 General Election have been infected with COVID-19 and most of infected teachers were Yangon Region, Secretary Dr Zaw Myo Hlaing from Myanmar Teachers’ Federation told the Daily Eleven Newspaper.

The Myanmar Teachers’ Federation collected the list of infected teachers since the beginning of November 24th.

“Most are in the Yangon Region. The second is the Kayin State. But, it isn’t serious. I have contacts with about 50 infected teachers. No one is in the Intensive Care Unit. We collected the list of infected teachers since November 24th. Some infected teachers were discharged from the hospital. The teachers tested positive for COVID-19 after the Nov 8 general election and then they arrived early in Treatment Centers on November 11th. We may miss the list of  infected teachers from rural areas. We think that there were about 100 infected teachers across the nation,” said Dr Zaw Myo Hlaing.

Currently, Myanmar Teachers’ Federation is providing aids to the infected teachers.
