A hand grenade exploded at the Koe Nawin pagoda festival in Kawtkamae Village, Yundalin village tract, Bilin Township, Mon State, killing a man and injuring four men, according to locals.

While the entertainment was being performed, two men on a motorcycle threw a hand grenade around 10:00 pm on December 21, according to a local.

“The grenade exploded near the place where motorcycles are parked, killing a young man on the spot. Another four men were injured.” said a local.

Maung Okka Kyaw from Pauktaw Village was died on the spot. U Kyaw Min Htaik from Pauktaw Village, U Thu Lin and U Theik Soe from Kyaktakone Village, and U Aung Soe Thant form Kawtkamae Village were injured.

Two men on the motorcycle fled the area heading to Taungson Village, according to locals.

Kawtkamae Village in Yundalin village tract, Bilin Township situates 10 miles west of Bilin and two miles away from Taungson Village. Koe Nawin pagoda festival was held from December 19 to 21.
