Fuel stations will sell fuel to vehicles used for daily transportation under a verification system, while private cars will be allowed to buy fuel based on an odd–even license plate rule, according to the Yangon Region Petroleum Products Regulatory Department.
Under the system, private vehicles with even-numbered plates can purchase fuel on even dates, while those with odd-numbered platescan buy fuel on odd dates. Vehicles used for factories, workplaces, and goods distribution will also be allowed to purchase fuel after verification.
Fuel will continue to be sold to public transport vehicles, taxis, fuel tankers, construction vehicles, cargo trucks, ambulances, funeral vehicles, and municipal garbage trucks.
School buses and office transport vehicles may also purchase fuel after inspection and approval.
Authorities warned that fuel stations must strictly sell at the official price and are not allowed to raise prices. Selling fuel in containers or drums is also prohibited. Sales to businesses must be approved by relevant departments and township authorities, and vehicles must provide valid documents proving their operational use.
