Till now, there is no transmission of coronavirus virus in Myanmar and the screening works are much better than other countries, Dr. Myint Htwe, Union Minister for Health and Sports told media after the coordination meeting on the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) which has been spreading in China, on January 24.

As of time of writing this article, no virus has been detected. The ministry is ready to deal with the virus case. The ministry will send samples to Thailand for laboratory test if there is a potential case. The WHO will cover the transportation cost.

In order to control the spread of virus, the ministry has directed relevant bodies to do screening at all transport networks in addition to the screening in Muse, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw.

“I am very satisfied with health staff’s efforts. The ministry’s infectious disease control unit has already had experiences about  H1N1. The spread of coronavirus is similar to that of H1N1. The ministry is on call for it,” the minister added.
