President U Min Aung Hlaing met with a delegation led by Cardinal Charles Bo, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Myanmar, at the Presidential Office in Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of August 5.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed religious freedom, national peace, and the promotion of social harmony, according to official information.

Cardinal Charles Bo said he was honored and pleased to have the opportunity to meet the President and expressed appreciation for his efforts in carrying out national responsibilities despite various challenges.

He also thanked the government for granting land for the construction of a Catholic church in Nay Pyi Taw and offered prayers for peace and well-being for the President and all the people of Myanmar.

President Min Aung Hlaing said that Myanmar guarantees freedom of religion for followers of all faiths and does not discriminate on religious grounds. He explained that land had been allocated in Nay Pyi Taw to enable the construction of dignified places of worship for followers of different religions.

The President further stated that the country remains committed to the path of a multi-party democratic system and expressed his belief that peace can only be achieved through dialogue. He added that political demands should likewise be resolved through political means.

He also called on religious leaders to continue supporting efforts to cultivate moral values and civility among the public and to promote national reconciliation and lasting peace through the teachings of their respective faiths.

After the meeting, the President inquired about the needs of the bishops and arranged for necessary assistance. The two sides also exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for a group photograph.
