The counting began on 4pm where the polling stations close and while most are still in the process of counting, Mandalay Region's NLD victory committee say that they are leading by a large margin.

Members of the committee in Mandalay also say that even in regions like Meikhtila, Yamethin and Pyawbwe where the NLD lost in 2015 are looking good this time around.

A candidate from Tharsi said ,"The thing is that we do not know what votes from the villages. But we are doing well so far in the polls from town."

Chan Myae Thar Si Township's candidate U Aung Myint Moe also says that advance votes for the NLD were lower than that of the USDP at the military-poll advance votes.
